Ashepoo, SC– David James worked as a power company lineman for years before retiring. He climbed wooden power poles wearing boots with spikes, and once slipped and fell 20 feet.
“I hit the ground pretty hard” he recalls. His injury from the 20 foot fall? Just a “twisted ankle,” he said,
His father had worked at a sawmill. His wife currently works at the Ashepoo, South Carolina filling station and convenience store. David does maintenance work there as well, sometimes riding his bicycle to work.
The prior owner of the store and gas station was murdered by a robber who went to the store to steal cash from the owner in this rural area which has a limited population.
